My name is Shelly, and I am the Social Service Director, I have well over 20 years of experience in healthcare, most being in long-term care. When human beings experience trauma or severe life stressor such as being hospitalized or making the difficult decision to move into a senior living community, it is not uncommon for them to feel like their life is unraveling.
My greatest passion is helping the people who have had these experiences and others to find amity and aid in the transition process. I like to connect with my residents and if they’re here for short-term rehab, I like to hold their hand as they cross the bridge of healing successfully from hospital to home. For my long-term care residents, I truly enjoy learning about their lives, getting to know their families, and being engaged as well as advocating for each resident.
I have had the honor of mending family relationships, reconnecting a husband and wife successfully at home with home health services, and am an empathetic listener as some seniors age alone. I know that no single approach is the right one for every resident, and so through my experience, I have different techniques to connect with every resident.
